Who We Help
The following is a simple guideline for the types of children and situations we are best suited to serve.
For answers about a particular need, or if you need a home for your child, please contact one of our Community Supervisors.
Parent/Guardian
Sunshine Acres generally admits children from families who are experiencing:
- Homelessness
- Chronic or terminal health concerns
- Incarceration
- Drug or Alcohol challenges or rehabilitation
- Difficulties meeting the needs of their adoptive child
- Challenges with a kinship placement (children currently living with a relative other than birth parents)
- Other circumstances preventing them from providing care for their child
Child
Sunshine Acres generally admits boys and girls:
- ages 5 to 14 at time of admission
- without regard to race, religion or national origin
- with no suicidal, homicidal, arson, or other serious criminal behaviors
- with no current drug or alcohol dependencies
- who have no history of sexual perpetration
Sunshine Acres is a long term residential home. Initial placement is a minimum of 12 months. Once admitted, a child may stay as long as needed, even into early adulthood (college).
